Kubedex is an independent publication for the people who run Kubernetes. We connect the dots between tools, explain migration decisions and preserve useful context as the ecosystem changes.

Built around the decision

A list of features is only the beginning. Our comparisons explain when a tool fits, the constraints that matter and the work involved in changing direction. Migration guidance separates a planning checklist from an installation or upgrade that has actually been exercised.

A publication with a history

The original Kubedex covered Kubernetes software, Helm charts and production experiences. This edition restores those articles at their original addresses. Historical observations remain dated; current guidance appears separately with its sources.

How the work is prepared

AI assists with research, drafting, recovery and checks. Publication is subject to the owner’s editorial approval. A source check is not a hands-on test, and we label that difference. Read our editorial policy for the evidence standard.

Welcome to Kubedex!

Kubedex is the best place to discover, compare and share Kubernetes Applications. You may be wondering what some of these words mean.

Kubernetes is an open-source system for automating deployment, scaling, and management of containerized applications. It helps developers and teams of developers build and release their own applications easily.

You can install 3rd party applications on Kubernetes using a tool called Helm. Think about Kubernetes applications in the same way you think about apps on a smart phone. By installing an application it gives you additional functionality.

There are currently hundreds of 3rd party applications available via the Helm repository. It is not always easy to discover which applications are good, which are bad and how they compare feature wise to what you may have used before. This website aims to make finding awesome applications for your use cases really easy.

Kubedex includes comparisons that help you decide what components to use for your Kubernetes platform. These aim to be honest. Here are some facts:

  1. Kubedex is not selling any products related to the comparison articles
  2. There are no sponsored blog posts

There is zero financial motivation to write biased articles and you can check my entire work history on LinkedIn.
