Project reference ↗

Helm Exporter makes Helm release information available to a monitoring system, helping teams see which charts and versions are installed across their applications. The exporter identified by this chart is sstarcher/helm-exporter, which can also look up chart-version information. It is useful for deployment inventory and upgrade visibility. Knowing that a newer chart exists does not tell you whether its application changes are compatible or whether the current workload is healthy.

Identify the exporter correctly

The recovered stable/helm-exporter chart identifies sstarcher/helm-exporter as its source and directs users to that project after the stable chart archive. It is not the separate Kubedex Tiller-era exporter described in the old Kubedex development article.

Current upstream guidance

The project README documents Kubernetes 1.19+ and Helm 3+ prerequisites, installation through its own chart repository, and lookup of chart versions from OCI registries. Treat those as upstream claims for the relevant project release; Kubedex has not run this exporter against Helm 4 or verified every private registry workflow.

Before adoption

Review access to Helm release metadata, Prometheus discovery, chart-name overrides and registry credentials. A newer chart version being available is not proof that an application can safely upgrade to it. Keep version visibility separate from application health and supported upgrade decisions.

The historical Kubedex exporter article retains its original authorship and implementation context.

Historical upstream link check · 2026-10-09

The recorded upstream address responded successfully (HTTP 200) on 2026-10-09. GitHub confirms that helm/charts is archived: this is a historical chart distribution, not evidence that the application itself is retired. Link availability does not certify the historical installation instructions or current security support.
