You want to try AWS without an unexpected bill or a lab full of forgotten resources. Begin by checking the account plan and the services your exercise will use. An AWS learning account is a real cloud account; the terms of a free offer determine what it can run and what happens when the offer ends.

The Free plan and Paid plan have different restrictions and charging behavior. Do not assume an old tutorial's free allowance applies to a new account. Plan one small exercise, record everything it creates and decide how to remove or export it when finished. The current plan-specific checks are below.

Try it in a lab

Before creating resources, identify the account plan. The Free plan restricts available services and incurs no usage charges while it remains a Free plan; the Paid plan can charge for usage beyond applicable credits or for services those credits do not cover. Check which actions automatically upgrade a Free account, then configure account security and define a small exercise with a resource inventory and explicit teardown steps.

Check your understanding

Be able to identify the owner, region and expected cost of every lab resource. Verify that your cleanup checklist covers disks, addresses and other objects that can outlive a virtual machine.

Before you start

Check the current offer, account-plan expiry and service pricing before provisioning. A Free account closes automatically when the plan expires or its credits run out, so export any lab data you need before that boundary.

Read the official guide

Use the AWS Free Tier overview and account-plan documentation to verify eligibility, restrictions and expiry. Record the versions and results of your own exercise. This page proposes a learning activity; it does not report a Kubedex test.

This is a newly written study reference at an address from the original Kubedex course outline. The original lesson was not recovered. It does not include course enrolment, progress tracking or a certificate.
