Hazelcast Jet processes incoming streams and bounded batches of data across multiple workers. Jobs can transform records and maintain working state as events arrive, making it useful for data-processing tasks that need coordinated execution beyond one process. Jet was once distributed as a separate product and is now part of Hazelcast. That consolidation changes deployment and upgrade choices; existing jobs and saved state need a supported migration rather than a simple image replacement.
Deployment and operating notes
The Hazelcast Jet repository states that development moved into the core Hazelcast repository with Hazelcast 5.0. This is a product consolidation, not the disappearance of Jet’s stream-processing capabilities. The dedicated upgrade guide describes changes from Jet 4.x, including configuration and Java API changes, so the old standalone chart is not a direct current installation path.
Inventory job JARs, connectors, serializers, snapshots, cluster configuration and client libraries before migration. Check the exact source and target versions and follow the combined platform’s edition and compatibility requirements. The Jet 4.x-to-Hazelcast 5.0 guide rules out rolling upgrades and restoring jobs from Jet 4.x snapshots. It instructs Jet Enterprise 4.x users to cancel and resubmit jobs, losing any unfinished job state. Rehearse a source-replay or restart plan and validate source offsets, output correctness and restart behavior. Confirm whether the Jet engine must be enabled in the selected packaging instead of assuming historical defaults. Keep durable snapshots and a source replay plan outside Kubernetes pods. A chart rollback cannot retract records already written to external sinks; recovery needs an application-level decision about replay, deduplication and the last safe checkpoint.
