Hyperledger Composer provided tools for describing a business network and building applications on Hyperledger Fabric, a blockchain for approved participants. Developers could model the data, transactions and access rules instead of assembling every integration directly against Fabric. It was useful for accelerating that application-development workflow. Composer is deprecated, so maintaining an inherited application now means preserving its models and behavior while planning a move to supported Fabric application interfaces.
Deployment and operating notes
The Composer repository explicitly states that the project entered deprecated status on August 29, 2019, with no active feature development or issue support, and recommended Fabric’s newer programming model. That old recommendation to use Fabric 1.4 or later is historical; new work should select a currently supported Fabric release and its application APIs.
For an inherited Composer network, preserve business-network archives, model definitions, access-control rules, identities, transaction logic and ledger state. Composer models and generated REST interfaces are not automatically compatible with native Fabric contracts and clients. Plan a rewrite or documented migration at the application level, with test cases for authorization, transaction validation and event handling. Coordinate network changes across participating organizations and define a state reconciliation point. Keep signing material and recovery artifacts protected outside ordinary chart values. No automatic Composer-to-current-Fabric conversion was established here, and deploying the old Helm chart is not a substitute for a supported application migration.
Historical upstream link check · 2026-10-09
The recorded upstream address responded successfully (HTTP 200) on 2026-10-09. GitHub confirms that helm/charts is archived: this is a historical chart distribution, not evidence that the application itself is retired. Link availability does not certify the historical installation instructions or current security support.
Website availability is separate from project, chart and image support. Use the current guidance and primary sources on this page to assess the distribution.

Hyperledger Composer is a set of tools to aid in the development of Blockchain solutions using the Hyperledger Fabric permissioned blockchain framework.
Hyperledger Composer is an extensive, open development toolset and framework to make developing blockchain applications easier. Our primary goal is to accelerate time to value, and make it easier to integrate your blockchain applications with the existing business systems. You can use Composer to rapidly develop use cases and deploy a blockchain solution in weeks rather than months. Composer allows you to model your business network and integrate existing systems and data with your blockchain applications.
Hyperledger Composer supports the existing Hyperledger Fabric blockchain infrastructure and runtime, which supports pluggable blockchain consensus protocols to ensure that transactions are validated according to policy by the designated business network participants.
Everyday applications can consume the data from business networks, providing end users with simple and controlled access points.
You can use Hyperledger Composer to quickly model your current business network, containing your existing assets and the transactions related to them; assets are tangible or intangible goods, services, or property. As part of your business network model, you define the transactions which can interact with assets. Business networks also include the participants who interact with them, each of which can be associated with a unique identity, across multiple business networks.
