A CouchDB deployment can need monitoring for storage growth, ongoing work and node health alongside application metrics. The gesellix CouchDB exporter reads CouchDB’s statistics and active-task interfaces and exposes the results to Prometheus, with optional detailed database-size information. It provides the bridge between the database’s own interfaces and Prometheus queries. Choose whether collection should describe individual nodes or a cluster view, because connecting through one service address may hide machines you intended to observe.

Current guidance

The archived chart identifies gesellix/couchdb-prometheus-exporter. Its upstream reads CouchDB statistics and active-task endpoints and can collect detailed database size information. That is a separate project from CouchDB itself; chart deprecation does not establish exporter or database retirement, and a replacement should preserve the intended collection scope.

Choose whether to observe a specific node or obtain a cluster overview according to the exporter’s CouchDB-version guidance. Detailed per-database metrics can expand series counts and expose database names. Scope credentials and network access deliberately, protect the exporter’s own endpoint where needed, and configure TLS verification rather than copying an old plaintext example into a shared cluster.

Before replacing the release, inventory enabled collectors, target URLs, authentication, scrape labels and dashboards. Compare storage-size and task metrics against CouchDB directly using a small representative database, including unavailable-node behavior. Confirm that a service address does not accidentally hide nodes you need to observe. This review verifies the exporter identity and documented interface, not the correctness of a particular database monitoring deployment.

Historical upstream link check · 2026-10-09

The recorded upstream address responded successfully (HTTP 200) on 2026-10-09. GitHub confirms that helm/charts is archived: this is a historical chart distribution, not evidence that the application itself is retired. Link availability does not certify the historical installation instructions or current security support.

couchdb-prometheus-exporter is a Prometheus exporter for CouchDB metrics.

The CouchDB metrics exporter requests the CouchDB stats from the /_stats</ and /_active_tasks endpoints and exposes them for Prometheus consumption. You can optionally monitor detailed database stats like disk and data size to monitor the storage overhead. The exporter can be configured via program parameters, environment variables, and config file.
