To serve a Kubernetes application through an AWS Application Load Balancer, someone must connect the application's routing rules to the right AWS resources. AWS ALB Ingress Controller automated that work by watching Kubernetes Ingress objects and configuring load balancers for them. It reduced the need to maintain the same routing setup separately in AWS. The project evolved into AWS Load Balancer Controller, so older installations need the successor's migration guidance.
Current guidance
AWS ALB Ingress Controller evolved into AWS Load Balancer Controller; use the current project identity and release documentation.
This is a rename and expansion of the controller, not evidence that every historical annotation or IAM policy works unchanged. Record the current controller release, its Kubernetes support, managed AWS resources and permission model before upgrading.
Review load-balancer ownership and migration behavior carefully: replacing a controller can affect externally reachable infrastructure. Test one non-critical service, confirm health checks and preserve a route back to the known-good endpoint.
Historical upstream link check · 2026-10-09
The recorded upstream address responded successfully (HTTP 200) on 2026-10-09. GitHub confirms that helm/charts is archived: this is a historical chart distribution, not evidence that the application itself is retired. Link availability does not certify the historical installation instructions or current security support.
Website availability is separate from project, chart and image support. Use the current guidance and primary sources on this page to assess the distribution.
