Chronograf turns monitoring measurements into charts and dashboards that people can explore in a browser. It also provides administration and alerting workflows through its connections to InfluxDB and Kapacitor, components of the TICK monitoring stack. It is useful for teams already using that combination who need to investigate trends and manage monitoring configuration. It is not a universal interface for every newer product carrying the InfluxDB name.
Deployment and operating notes
InfluxData’s current Chronograf documentation describes it as the visualization and administration application for the TICK stack, with InfluxDB and Kapacitor connections, dashboards, alerting and its own configuration database. The older stable Helm chart belongs to the archived, unsupported helm/charts repository; it is a separate packaging artifact. Do not assume that changing the database image to a newer InfluxDB product preserves Chronograf’s query and administration behavior.
Inventory InfluxQL queries, dashboards, Kapacitor tasks, organizations, users and connection credentials before a change. Check the documented compatibility of the selected Chronograf, InfluxDB and Kapacitor versions, including authentication and database APIs. Back up Chronograf’s database as well as the time-series data; the latter does not reconstruct dashboard configuration. Rehearse dashboard import or restoration and a known alert trigger on a separate instance. If moving to another visualization product, compare query language and alert semantics instead of merely recreating charts by appearance. Keep the previous configuration available until users have checked time ranges, variables and access controls.
Historical upstream link check · 2026-10-09
The recorded upstream address responded successfully (HTTP 200) on 2026-10-09. GitHub confirms that helm/charts is archived: this is a historical chart distribution, not evidence that the application itself is retired. Link availability does not certify the historical installation instructions or current security support.
Website availability is separate from project, chart and image support. Use the current guidance and primary sources on this page to assess the distribution.
