Teams that want to run their own workplace messaging service can use Mattermost for conversations, shared files and integrations with other tools. Team Edition is a particular offering within that application family, rather than the Kubernetes machinery that installs it. A deployment needs to preserve message history, attachments and login configuration. This entry also explains the unsupported Team Edition chart and the upstream direction for managing Mattermost on Kubernetes.

Current guidance

The Mattermost-owned Team Edition chart now carries a notice that it is no longer supported and recommends the Mattermost Operator. This is a packaging lifecycle fact, not proof that the messaging application has ended. The historical stable-chart instructions and later vendor-chart examples must both be treated as version-specific.

Current Mattermost requirements emphasize PostgreSQL and document migration away from MySQL support. Confirm the target release’s database requirements rather than assuming the recovered MySQL-or-PostgreSQL statement remains sufficient. Check the selected edition’s licensing and clustering capabilities before increasing replicas or assuming enterprise features are included.

Inventory configuration, plugins, uploaded files, database data and external identity integrations before changing deployment management. Rehearse restoration and verify login, message history, search and attachments in an isolated instance. An operator adoption should preserve existing data and credentials; deleting a Helm release first can remove resources still needed for migration. This review supplies upstream direction without claiming that the old values file is compatible with the operator or that a database migration has been tested.

Historical upstream link check · 2026-10-09

The recorded upstream address responded successfully (HTTP 200) on 2026-10-09. GitHub confirms that helm/charts is archived: this is a historical chart distribution, not evidence that the application itself is retired. Link availability does not certify the historical installation instructions or current security support.
